On Wednesday 27th June, PlayStation fans will finally be able to get their mitts on the Ratchet and Clank HD Collection but this is only a Europe only release date. Australia (28th June) New Zealanders (29th June) will be able to get the game too but there is no release date for North America except for the vague “Fall 2012″ notion made by Insomniac Games. Why is that? This is an explanation of why this is a terrible decision by Sony.
Ted Price, the CEO of Insomniac Games has stated it will be coming in the Fall for Americans but as the season gets closer, it is hard not to feel worried. The game has already gone gold in Europe so I have a question Insomniac; why is the North American release being slated for much later? There are plenty of PlayStation exclusive games coming out in the Fall such as Sly 4, PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale and Little Big Planet Karting so why can’t it come out sooner to avoid the big rush? It will be lost among the huge hitters like Assassin’s Creed 3 and Call of Duty so why release the game when it can’t sell as many? There is also another Ratchet game called Full Frontal Assault for the PlayStation Network this Fall so why add the HD Collection to the list of scheduled games when you should be focusing on the new installment? A lot of gamers like to play older titles during the Summer when nothing is coming out so that would be the perfect time to release this HD Collection. Insomniac, ratchet up the game to a release date during the Summer to avoid low sales among the crowd of big hitters. The collection has already “gone gold” so why is there such a great time gap between Europe and North America’s release dates? Please let us know.
