Sony said today via the Playstation Blog that Home is getting a major update, but the question I have is it really worth updating? Don’t get me wrong Home is a great way to build a community and allows PSN users to make new friends, but the things you can do in home aren’t really well fun. I mean you can decorate your room, or go bowling and other games, and watch gaming events such as E3 and EVO, but that’s about it. A Friend of mine once said oh it’s like the sims which is essentially what home is minus the murder etc. However as much I don’t like Home I would not deem it a failure it does have it’s moments.

The New new interface (seen above) looks interesting it reminds me of a map from an RPG, and from the looks of things it looks easier to navigate then the previous interface.

The Hud or Mall as I like to call it looks to have combined the mall and the theater and outside area into one convenient location. Sony also said there will be areas in the mall based on a specific game. (as seen in the photo above)
The “Action District” has a very GTA mixed with Victorian era houses. An interesting choose to say the least you can also go to the “Sportswalk” to check the up to the minute MLB Scores and highlights which is perfect for baseball fans not my thing , but it’s nice to see a feature like that. The “Adventure District” is a jungled themed area which will feature things related to action games, which could be interesting to see perhaps we’ll see a Sony version of the Temple of Doom.
Finally we have “Park Pier” a theme park on a waterfront concept that will target arcade, and indie game scene which I am very excited for, because this means I’ll be able to get my fight on in Street Fighter III and Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection (to be released sometime this fall).

Sony also promises that users will be able to play games faster then they ever could before, and the Home would be “the ultimate social gaming platform on consoles.”
What do you think of the Home update think you’ll give home a shot or rejoin?
