In response to the large amount of feedback, Shahid Kamal Ahmid (the Senior Business Development Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe), has tweeted the results of the #JRPGVita Campaign he began a few weeks ago. He wanted to hear your opinion on which J-RPG games you would like to localized and according to Shahid, Sony “are paying attention and will discuss results with our partners.”
As previously mentioned, Shahid shared the results of the feedback he received and both Tales of Hearts R and Tales of Innocence R are top with 546 mentions and 354 mentions respectively. Please keep in mind, however that he “can’t make specific promises” but “can “raise these figures with the right people.” Previously, a localization for both Tales of Hearts R and Tales of Innocence R was rejected by Hideo Baba (the producer of the Tales of series) who stated that there isn’t enough interest in the West for the Vita. However, with this recent Twitter campaign, Sony could step in if they think there’s enough interest. Nintendo localized Bravely Default: Flying Fairy for Square Enix so why not have the Tales of games being looked after by Sony? Plus, it would help the PlayStation Vita out greatly as the game lineup recently has become incredibly thin with Killzone: Mercenary and Tearaway being their only standout titles for this upcoming Holiday.
Despite the Vita’s woes as of recent, this type of community feedback is inspiring to see from such a large company as Sony. From the CEO, Shuhei Yoshida, to the Senior Business Developer Manager at SCEE, Shahid Kamal Ahmid, we have seen big names from the company step in and give messages back to the consumers. This even was highlighted during the PlayStation E3 2013 Press Conference and it seems like social media is going to be a huge direction for the company moving forward.
