I think we can all agree on the fact that there is not enough couch co-op games around these days, at least when it comes to the more serious action games. We are at least starting to see the classic couch co-op starting to return little by little and you can look forward to playing with or against a buddy in Starhawk.
Back in the days of Warhawk you had the option of having a night of gaming with a bunch of buddies through the use of split-screen co-op. It was pretty fun and it worked out pretty good as long as you had a big enough screen to play on, but this time around their looking to improve on the splitscreen coop.
Two Player Split-screen Co-op:
Like I said before, unless you had a big enough screen to play on you found yourself more and more less likely to play 4-player split-screen. So it makes sense to change it to 2-player split-screen for a better balance between size ratio. So more effort has been put into making 2-player co-op just as fun, but I’m sure some of you might not be as pleased with the idea of not having 4-player split-screen coop.
Dual-Log in:
Finally an idea that’s worth incorporating into Starhawk, so that no more of your wasted time gets wasted gaming over at your buddies house. For once it’s going to actually matter how well you do playing at your buddies house, earning some sweet XP to take back home onto your own account. Downside of this feature to some, might be the fact that you can earn customizations(outfits, paint jobs, decals) or trophies, which really you can’t complain about cause these things save directly to the PS3.
This is very good news for couch co-op buddies, since it gives them more of a reason to hang out together and have some fun playing Starhawk. You could always play online together over the internet if you really want to, but I’m glad there is at least some thought put into the couch co-op side of gaming.
